PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM
What is the PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM?
- The Parent Support Program pair newly arrived parent/family members with ASK parent volunteer members, who are knowledgeable and more experienced with the Geneva school system, PTA staff, school staff, with those who find they need additional support with parent teacher communication or personal recommendation on a specific specialist or a particular specialist school program.
-
The unique aspect of this program is that it involves parents helping other parents. The program complements the existing support services already offered by ASK. The service is free of charge and offered on a first come, first served basis to parents who contact ASK.
Who are ASK PARENT SUPPORT PROVIDERS and what are their qualifications?
ASK Parent Support Providers are parents, who have children with various special needs and learning difficulties, who have gone through similar experiences, IEP process and feel comfortable helping others understand the process to smooth out any parent teacher communication and can provide resource information and personal assistance that some newly arrived parents may need to settle in Geneva.
How do I/we get started?
Just contact ASK at info@allspecialkids.org and specify the kind of assistance or support you require. We will try to match you up with another parent who has gone thru similar transition to provide you personal assistance and support.
Furthermore, every first Thursday of the month, ASK offer a monthly informal parents get-together hosted by a volunteer parent. All parents are welcome to join the coffee morning and meet other parents to seek personal support through shared experiences and resources.
